It's strange because the men in this film behave like women; very effeminate and the women behave more masculine. Arzner trademark. It did seem strange that the men weren't interested in Maureen O'Hara but were fascinated with Lucille Ball. O'Hara is way more striking than Lucy. Not to mention that Maureen was more graceful doing the hula than Lucy. Lucy moved her hips and there was zero sex appeal. Maureen glided across the room. Strange too because Lucy was trained as a dancer. Maybe she was more used to more classical dance.

This movie didn't make sense in some ways. Judy is more than happy to accept help from the drunken playboy but a perfectly nice guy on the street who offered nothing more than an umbrella and a cab ride and she's acting rude and tearing up his card. It didn't make sense with her character who is supposed to be such a lady. Why would she be suspicious of a nice guy who treats her with respect but ready to do the town with a drunken guy who took her friend out over her? And why would the crowd that just got told off by Judy suddenly join the applause? She was talking about them! And why would they boo Tiger Lily? She is who they came to see. Even if they felt ashamed by what Judy said, they wouldn't be booing Tiger Lily. The writer didn't properly connect the dots here.
